Harry Houdini, Whodunnit - Would've had birthday cake today.

 
Nice banner Google provided the Houdini Man. Not to be confused to with Hoodoo. Especially since his father was a Rabbi.

 

 

Harry Houdini was born as Erik Weisz (he later spelled his birth name as Ehrich Weiss) in Budapest, Hungary, on March 24, 1874.^[1] From 1907 on, however, Houdini would claim in interviews to have been born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on April 6, 1874.

His parents were Rabbi Mayer Samuel Weiss (1829–1892) and his wife, Cecelia (née Steiner; 1841–1913). Houdini was one of seven children: Herman M. (1863–1885); Nathan J. (1870–1927); Gottfried William (1872–1925); Theodore "Theo" (1876–1945);^[2] Leopold D. (1879–1962); and Gladys Carrie (born 1882–unknown year of death).

Weiss came to the United States on July 3, 1878, sailing on the SS Fresia with his mother (who was pregnant) and his four brothers.^[3] The family changed the Hungarian spelling of their German surname into Weiss (the German spelling) and the spelling of their son's name into Ehrich. Friends called him "Ehrie" or "Harry".

They first lived in Appleton, Wisconsin, where his father served as Rabbi of the Zion Reform Jewish Congregation. According to the 1880 census, the family lived on Appleton Street.^[4] On June 6, 1882, Rabbi Weiss became an American citizen. Losing his tenure at Zion in 1887, Rabbi Weiss moved with Ehrich to New York City. They lived in a boarding house on East 79th Street. They were joined by the rest of the family once Rabbi Weiss found permanent housing. As a child, Ehrich Weiss took several jobs, making his public début as a 9-year-old trapeze artist, calling himself "Ehrich, the Prince of the Air". He was also a champion cross country runner in his youth. Weiss became a professional magician and began calling himself "Harry Houdini" because he was heavily influenced by the French magician Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin, and his friend Jack Hayman told him, erroneously, that in French, adding an "i" to Houdin would mean "like Houdin" the great magician. In later life, Houdini would claim that the first part of his new name, Harry, was a homage to Harry Kellar, whom Houdini admired.

In 1918, he registered for selective service as Harry Handcuff Houdini.....

Im glad to see other high intensity chics exist. Becoming a chanteuse and putting that radiance to shine. A room could never be dark with you in it.

Things to remember. Living in a fast world where everything is quickly over-turned by something that seems better, we should be mindful at how blessed we truly are. I watched a film that made me cry at the sheer unfairness and disgusting plight. Then I decided wouldn't it be better if I prayed for the love to reach over far away and cover those in a warm blanket of safety. Or, perhaps with enough prayer, and positive thoughts could actually reach someone and cheer their path?

I believe that change is imminent. I believe change can occur if everyone put effort in making these changes either by writing letters to your elected officials, sending donations or all out protesting it would be likely to occur.

I feel embarrased at how sometimes I become impatient and simply want more, and more, and more like a helium balloon. However, i do try and give my part back.

I say a prayer for you little children who have no voice. I do not know you but i carry your plight in my heart. I wish that you all had the same things I can give my child.

I hug my son a little bit stronger so you can feel my warmth against your cheek.

Summer Time

I love organizing. Organizing my closet. Anyone's closet really. Cleanliness and order are so chaotic in a way. I also like to share so most of my unworn stuff, adios - arivaderchi - sayonara.

I decided I do need some new stuff for this summer. I found this plaid top (which plaid is a big thing for me) Plaid

A pair of jean overall shorts, shiny burgundy tassel loafers, my new Joy Division tshirt  (Joy Tee), I'm still searching for a new pair of converse. My orange tan ones are about to go south and bust, however the right color will appear. I am having a problem with the wayfarers I want. Seems with my prescription they come out to over $400, ummm, kinda would rather take a trip with that. Wayfarers

So,  yeah,   I have been hearing choruses on Hi Fi Definition inside my solitary meditations. Funny how loud things can be in the dead of silence. In the still of the still of the still.   Or, what about...how silent things are when you deafen your ears?

Imagining myself in pink turbans, driving - a taxi cab driver and the ongoing chatter of people slamming car doors in and slamming car doors out. All, with their mediochre soundtrack of silly speak. Wearing imaginary head-sets to drown out the mal odors of sedentary thoughts.

It's something to speak the way you are feeling -to feel like you have gone to far. Fishing back words. Reeling them in. How can you erase a truth when it seems to be in neon lights. I found a pencil and eraser and am drawing my escape plan exit. Hopefully I haven't ruined the picture.

 
 

 

 

Today, Floresita Reyes and I embarked on documenting Tiny Transylvania baubles. It was an organic process and we sweated a whole lot. When we were finished we ceremonially headed to Crispers for sandwiches and soups.

Cowboy Hats

We went to visit family in Grand Prairie, Texas. It's about 18 miles form Downtown Dallas. We enjoyed daily walks to the park (about several blocks away) and the amount of shade the lovely trees offered that even in 104 weather... playing outdoors was bearable.

However, when treading on asphalt the heat was so strong the vapors came through and I really felt like I was a chocolate cookie baking in an oven.

 

 

We visited the Dallas Museum, the collections housed there were so wonderful. I think they really put Miami Museums to shame. They had a diverse collection with Jasper Johns-Warhols-Monet-Pre Columbian Pottery-Asian Collections-Karen Walker- You name it they had it.

The Houston Stockyards were a sight to see. The bulls were paraded down the street at multiple times of the day. A train that had been running since the 1800's was functional. They even had a wonderful snow-cone stand that featured over 60 flavors. Dill pickle included. As we ate our cones in 2 minutes they were gone, melted in a watery poodle of yum.

We traveled in the city's only trolley service. It was a 1910 trolley. We saw passed out people on street corners. We took a photograph and then had the native american very upset with us. We did not see the sign. Needless to say my 4 year got very scared. 

We enjoyed really Mexican food from Fuzzy's. Southern bbq. Street corner hotdogs with chili. My brother and sister-in-law took us to a wonderful grocery store called Central Market. I was in love....

I even had the pleasure of watch Camera Obscura perform in a tiny little place called the loft. No more than 200 people were there and I in the front row. I really should have brought back a cowboy hat.
