Yes, its true I have forsaken my blog. I have been busy creating the robotic adventure day for my son. I have a robot parade planned - working on the handmade masks. A lunar lollipop display, goodie chinese boxes and invites that required lots of cutting and gluing. Eating lots of canned (yucky) stuff to get aluminum for my table display.
However, I will be back with lovely pictures! I wish I wish I could save you some brownies and ice cream we are having....
Today, Floresita Reyes and I embarked on documenting Tiny Transylvania baubles. It was an organic process and we sweated a whole lot. When we were finished we ceremonially headed to Crispers for sandwiches and soups.
Today was the last day of summer vacation. I was able to escape into one of my books and then I came across a picture that seemed to express exactly the same sentiment.

The more I see commercials for Spike Jonze's rendition of, "Where the Wild Things Are." The more I get excited. Plus, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are doing some music for it.

This Friday, will be an orientation day at my son's school. Finally he is a pre-k boy. The curtain is coming down on summer and rolling out the carpet for fall.
I was reminiscing of all the fun activities we had shared and how quickly time did pass. My friend Marcela (reference 80's prom below) shared wonderful information on a three-for-one pass. For a low price we got to visit the Zoo, Wannado City, Seaquarium all summer long.
Other favorite outings included spending our mornings at the beach building sandcastles (transylvanian in nature of course) and finding ice cream shops. But, this mother right here- could not savor more the Friends with You Playground at Aventura Mall. What other summer activity for non-sweating folk such as I, include A/C and cute lil puff clouds with slight fangs staring overhead?
I'm gonna miss the summer of 2009 and all the adventures we had. But my son is pretty lucky, as I try and take him everywhere so he enjoys his childhood to the fullest. When else do you really get to enjoy life with no worries and 24 hour fun?
FYI - Friends With You are two of the nicest guys ever. I met them over 10 years ago and every-time I see them they are the warmest bunch.
Haven't had the best night in falling asleep. I put my son to sleep earlier and took an hour nap before fumbling to my room .. only to find out my sleep had drifted out of my toes. I turned on the telly, Dexter was on. Not, the best choice to relax me to slumber. I Shut it off. Opened the fridge and saw my box of organic strawberries jumping towards me. Recalled I had some dutch chocolate ice cream. Oh dear... took one scoop. I better have them Busby Berkely dreams soon. Enjoy my black and white serenade.

Everyone knows I love color alot. Usually my event planning includes a very bold palette. Each year when I celebrate my son's birthday I go all out on decorating for the theme. When a holiday comes around I scour for crafts to decorate my home in pretty palettes. My son and i enjoy the process of making stuff but sometimes I like to buy things that are well made. And I found a site where I will be getting mobiles.
Frazier & Wing is a design studio in Portland, Oregon where artist and designer Heather Frazier creates paper mobiles, garlands, wall hangings, and other three demensional works with a modern and poetic sensibility. The studio is named after her parents…frazier for my father and wing for my mother.

So, I found a mix cd my husband is currently working on for me in his secret music lab. I must say it was full of delightful sounds. The mix felt a bit melancholy and somber, but in reality it is a real reflection on my musical taste of late. Well I take that back, the Smiths were my original favorite band. I like to listen to music, reflect and get lost in translation.
The song somehow made me feel like I was so close to a place I once knew? Do you ever wake up feeling stripped of that familiar womb? Like somehow, you had forgotten of that long ago, secret hideaway and then somehow again, felt a flash of it once more while in your dreams? Well, tears have that same quenching effect.
In one melancholic moment, my tears flowed an endless river. I was soon swimming into the abysmal tides of forgotten realms. The drifting became so sweet and quiet I almost forgot that I had been there. My mascara becoming a permanent watercolor stamp on my face. While children giggled at the tears of this clown.
We went to visit family in Grand Prairie, Texas. It's about 18 miles form Downtown Dallas. We enjoyed daily walks to the park (about several blocks away) and the amount of shade the lovely trees offered that even in 104 weather... playing outdoors was bearable.
However, when treading on asphalt the heat was so strong the vapors came through and I really felt like I was a chocolate cookie baking in an oven.
The Houston Stockyards were a sight to see. The bulls were paraded down the street at multiple times of the day. A train that had been running since the 1800's was functional. They even had a wonderful snow-cone stand that featured over 60 flavors. Dill pickle included. As we ate our cones in 2 minutes they were gone, melted in a watery poodle of yum.
We traveled in the city's only trolley service. It was a 1910 trolley. We saw passed out people on street corners. We took a photograph and then had the native american very upset with us. We did not see the sign. Needless to say my 4 year got very scared.We enjoyed really Mexican food from Fuzzy's. Southern bbq. Street corner hotdogs with chili. My brother and sister-in-law took us to a wonderful grocery store called Central Market. I was in love....
This was the first Thanksgiving that I have ever held at my home. So this is my Plymouth Rock meal so to speak. My mother has worked hard each year to feed our ever expanding waistlines. Our family is quite small considering my parents divorced, many moons ago.
Secondly, many family members live in other faraway parts, and, I guess we are just a scattered tribe. Initially I knew what my menu would entail since my husband helped me formulate it. But I was thinking what direction I wanted to take in decorating my table. I did not really like any of the Thanksgiving options. Most were very dark and dreary. I did not have a fortune to spend at West Elm or Anthropologie. So I began thinking and thinking and honestly anyone that knows me knows I am one big polkadot. Most of my dresses are of polkadot nature I cannot escape them.
It took me two weeks to find my settings and when I walked into an undisclosed store I found them.Everything was absolutely gorgeous and when I went to get my camera and going to take pictures of my lovely polka dotted table with a simple flower display in the center. To my dismay, my husband began digging into his grub- soon followed by my son so I did not want to bore you with bones and gravy stains
Do you know Art Basel? He is the most gracious fellow ever! The best dinner parties in town. Oops, I meant the Art Fair that occurs each winter in Miami Beach, Florida.
Originally, this event began in Switzerland.The world's premier international art show for Modern and contemporary
works. Art Basel features nearly 300 leading galleries from all over the world.
More than 2,500 artists, ranging from the great masters of Modern art
to the latest generation of emerging stars, are represented in the
show's multiple sections.
My sister, who graduated from New World School Of the Arts College Program usually shows in some gallery during that frenzied week, so I get to snazzy myself up and attend.
However, this year I bumped into an old friend and he happened to be curating a show with Gen Art for Art Basel weekend entitled:The Van Guard Art Fair.
Well many lovely things came forth. My husband (studied Visual Arts and is a painter) was added to the roster and show two paintings. I even got to come on-board and represent his gallery. What joy filled my heart. <3
Gen Art and Bombay Sapphire provided complimentary martinis. The weekend turned into receptions/ping pong tournaments/for kids guided tours-craft sessions/panel discussions.

Of course, while I usually have intense luck I also have weird mishaps. Whilst working the fair someone stole my wallet and I was so upset about that. But fate turns out that I had entered the raffle and won the Nintendo DS Guitar Hero.
I had the lovely opportunity to being interviewed on several tv stations and a documentary for channel 2. I felt
like a leading lady even if for a few days.
Last Friday night, I had the night off for my monthly gallery walk. Since becoming an old mother hubbard, by the time evening rolls around and I have taken my nice warm bath and place my soft pajamas on. I get that homey feeling that I do not want to go out out of the nest for the night. In fact, today is another Saturday night and I am settled in watching The Wizard of Oz. Preparing my batch of banana bread and trying to write on this blog. So anyhow, last weekend I was shooed out of the home by my lovely husband who watched our babe. I drove down to Miami and went to each gallery. Saw some delightful friends and whizzed up home it took a total of 2 hours and the drive is 30 minutes each way. That's how quick my night out was. I really missed my little midget man. However the lights were incredibly, bewitching, and I had a lovely time takingall of the photographs.

THAKOON FOR TARGET
It's starting to look a lot like Christmas. Christmas in November? Not really, but Thakoon is coming to Target.
Thakoon's clothes for Target's Go! International series have finally surfaced, and they're pretty gorgeous. This collection feels very much like the Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg) a musical film circa 1964. It was directed by Jacques Demy, and starred Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo. The music was written by Michel Legrand. The film dialogue is all sung as recitative, even the most casual conversation.
But, I digress the clothing line to debut at Target will retail between $20 - about $70, and goes on sale this Christmas. It's got a resort vibe instead of a midwinter look, which means you have two options:
If you live in a sunny land grab an umbrella and sing around your neighborhood. And if you live a cold area where under your trenchcoat and sing on the subway. Either choice you'll be stylin a tres romantic look. As for me I'll be dressed in these outfits and popping some popcorn and watching my Umbrellas of Cherbourg instead.
I love peace and tranquility. Buddha is my middle name though not for obvious reasons but the amount of insurging drama has escalated recently. The drama I was referring too, was at work. My supervisor has a posse, and these four women make life miserable for everyone that crosses their path.. The saddest thing about the situation is everyone fears them because they feel powerless.. People in all the departments whisper all the atrocious history these women have built up. It really feels like it's war-time here and everyone is trying to run from the enemy. I think someone should really show them that tv show the office: When I began in my department the clique tried recruiting me to mistreat others but, my personal ethics could not allow me. I simply kept quiet. Trying not to pass judgement and trying to be perceived as neutral, though if directly asked I would give me real opinion. After they got rid of their last "opponent". Insane how grown women still behaved like some groupie from high school. They created their enemies, simply because they were lazy, did not produce work and then wanted to go around blaming others and talking bad all day. It seemed like a perpetual water cooler for them. How bloated them must feel? Going back to not doing their work whether on purpose or not they would avalanche me with last minute requests some almost impossible to fufill but I'd always manage to get it done. They would kinda seem happy to try and overwhelm me with contradictory orders, or lots he said she said but noone wants to send written instructions. My answer to all of that...a new maxim will be take a deli ticket. Puhlease..and while you are at it multiple xanax mix with champagne and jump off the nearest roof.

The Easiest and most appealing was the life long learning path. Being a lifelong learning student has always been appealing to me.
The path to self evolution and loosing appendages seems quite freeing. Just about a month ago I lost a gallbladder and I feel so much lighter. Being an avid Confucius devotee, not to be mixed up up as a confusionist :P. The art of learning can be broken down into examples, fairytales, moral stories.
In the Analects of Confucius, analysis of some key terms and their relevant passages, become quite a recipe where: li (the rites or observing ritual propriety), ren (human-heartedness or authoritative conduct), junzi (exemplary person), and yi (rightness, morality, or appropriateness) .
The most difficult for me would have to be the technology. I am a child of the seventie's - (LOS SETENTAS) though I never stepped foot in Studio 54 and stumble while rollerskating,
sometimes it takes a while for me to read and accept new forms of learning which involve technology.
However I am taking the step forward in embracing the tools to learn something new and leap into the unknown.
